This manual describes how to configure the Terminal System.

1.1. Terminal System overview#

Terminal System is a computer that functions as an edge device for the intdash bi-directional data transmission platform. The Terminal System is mainly designed for automobiles, heavy machinery, construction equipment, and agricultural machinery.

By connecting Terminal System to CAN bus via EDGEPLANT CAN-USB Interface, control signals and sensor signals can be acquired from the CAN bus and sent to the intdash server. Also, by connecting Terminal System to a GPS device, camera, etc., data can be acquired from these devices and sent to the intdash server.

1.2. Computers to be used as Terminal System#

Any of the following computers can be used as Terminal System.

  • aptpod EDGEPLANT T1

  • NEXCOM VTC 1910-S

Important

Refer to accompanying documentation for safety precautions and specifications for the computer and peripheral equipment.

Note on connecting to the network

  • To use wireless LAN, a designated wireless LAN adapter (Wi-Fi dongle) is required.

  • To use a cellular network (LTE), a specified LTE module (with antenna) is required. Terminal System computers are equipped with a SIM slot, but inserting a SIM card alone does not provide LTE communication.

1.3. Recommended environment for configuring the Terminal System#

Terminal System settings are made from a PC connected to the Terminal System via LAN cable or wireless LAN (hereinafter referred to as "configuration PC").

Recommended configuration PCs are those that meet the following specifications.

  • OS: Windows or macOS

  • CPU: Intel 3rd generation Core i3 and above

  • Memory: 4GB or more

  • Web browser: Google Chrome (latest version)

See Terminal System Quick Start - Setup from the configuration PC for how to connect a configuration PC to the Terminal System.
