This manual describes how to configure the Terminal System.

1.1. Terminal System overview#

Terminal System is a computer that functions as an edge device for intdash. The software required to function as an edge device is pre-installed.

Terminal Systems are mainly installed and used in automobiles, heavy machinery, construction equipment, and agricultural machinery.

By connecting the Terminal System to the CAN bus of an automobile using the EDGEPLANT CAN-USB Interface, control and sensor signals can be acquired from the CAN bus and sent to the intdash server.

When the Terminal System is connected to a GPS device, camera, etc., data can also be acquired from these devices.

Data filtering and resampling can also be performed.

1.2. Hardware used as Terminal System#

One of the following is used as the hardware for the Terminal System.

  • aptpod EDGEPLANT T1

  • NEXCOM VTC 1910-S

Important

Refer to accompanying documentation for safety precautions and specifications for the computer and peripheral equipment.

Note on connecting to the network

  • To use wireless LAN, a designated wireless LAN adapter (Wi-Fi dongle) is required.

  • To use a cellular network (LTE), a specified LTE module (with antenna) is required. EDGEPLANT T1 and VTC 1910-S are equipped with a SIM slot, but inserting a SIM card alone does not provide LTE communication.

1.3. Recommended environment for configuring the Terminal System#

Terminal System settings are made from another PC connected to the network (hereafter referred to as "configuration PC").

Recommended configuration PCs are those that meet the following specifications.

  • OS: Windows or macOS

  • CPU: Intel 3rd generation Core i3 and above

  • Memory: 4GB or more

  • Web browser: Google Chrome (latest version)

See Terminal System Quick Start - Setup from the configuration PC for instructions on how to connect a configuration PC to the Terminal System and start configuration.
